40th Anniversary Kickoff!

Thanks to everyone who came to our kickoff event over Alumni Weekend and donated to the raffle! Keep checking back for more info about the big 40th anniversary celebration in May, 2010. We'll post new details as soon as we have them finalized.

Our first alumni get-together in October, while modest and informal, was by all accounts a success. Gathering at Cornwall's in the shadow of the new Daily Free Press office in Kenmore Square, several generations of alumni reconnected, and in some cases, met for the first time. Like any meeting of former editors and writers, this one was packed with reminiscing about long-ago office antics and the best and worst moments of the paper's history. The October meet-and-greet was scheduled to coincide with Boston University's alumni weekend.

In the coming months, our event-planning committee will scout out other opportunities for alumni meet-ups. While we intend to plan annual newspaper anniversary celebrations, we will also be looking for opportunities to plan smaller gatherings in and around Boston throughout the year. If any alumni outside of Boston are interested in setting up local gatherings, contact us at contact@dfpalumni.org and we can help coordinate. As our association grows, we hope the size of the events will, as well.
